Episode 55:
Jason Mraz

Arrival

Hi Daryl, Any chance you read these comments? I need your help! I am getting married in October and our first dance will be Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up". We are huge Hall and Oates fans (he even proposed at your concert). So, we'd really like to dance to the version that you and Mraz sing together. How can I download/purchase that song? Your big fan, Rachel

I just listened to "I Won't Give Up" for the tenth time this morning and I'm just beyond knowing how to even begin to describe how incredible it is. Daryl, when you start singing your verse, the soulfulness and richness of your voice is extraordinary. Jason Mraz remains one of the greatest singer/songwriters to emerge in the last ten (maybe even twenty) years. You two are living proof as to why shows like American Idol, The Voice and X Factor are detroying our standards. I would defy Simon Cowell, LA Ried, Randy Jackson or any of the lot to find one performer even remostely close to anything as powerful as these two. Thanks Daryl for what you're doing. I enjoy every episode of your show and look forward with great anticipation to each new one. Your show should be mandatory, required viewing for anyone even considering a career in music. Keep it up. Matt.

Jason Mraz is probably the best singer songwriter on todays scene. When I was oung it was Cat Stevens and James Taylor. Not only doe Jason have one of the sweetest sounding voices his lyrics are so intellectually stimulating. It is so very refreshing to know that there are artist that sing beautiful songs. Of course Daryl Hall will make anyone sound great but Jason stands on his own merit..I love this episode and his song "I wont give up" brought tears to my eyes...Mahalo Jason and Daryl...Kimo Holland

Daryl...you sound better than ever. Jason Mraz...what an unbelievable voice. You both sound so incredible together. At a time when music is so "mechanical" with these pop artists that have to mix it all to sound good it is refreshing to listen to true musicians. The harmonies and lyrics are just amazing. Thank you both (and the band)for the great music you create and for the amazing way it sounds.

Jason Mraz
The Virginia-born singer-songwriter made his mark on the San Diego coffee house scene in 2000. Love is a Four Letter Word is his fourth studio album, and this month he will embark on his “Tour is a Four Letter Word” world concert jaunt with a series of shows in South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. The U.S. portion kicks off August 9 at New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena, with stop at Denver’s Red Rocks (Sept. 24) and L.A.’s Hollywood Bowl (Oct. 5). Mraz’s recent TV appearances include Late Show with David Letterman, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chelsea Lately, VH1’s Storytellers and NBC’s The Today Show.

Said Daryl: “Jason has a high, clear voice and contributes great harmonies. I really enjoyed singing the verses of his songs, too. It was a lot of fun.”
